Lady Gaga came to the VMA’s as a man; Nicki Minaj decided to come dressed up as Lady Gaga who got stuck in Tokyo. Lil Wayne came in one of his girlfriend’s pairs of jeans and Jay-Z … well Beyonce came pregnant.
The VMA’s sported a baby bump, a Britney Spears tribute and Tyler the Creator bashing Bruno mars. A bunch to talk about… from performances, to WTF moments and especially the style choices many of the stars made…those choices gave us a lot to talk about.
Nicki Minaj hit the black carpet in a jagged bodysuit full of plush bears, knee-highs and hair that looked like cupcakes? Nicki told reporters, “Tokyo inspired this outfit.” Taking notes from the Harijuku queen Gwen Stefani huh?
Katy Perry wore what looked like Lady Gaga’s reject attire the entire night. She started out in a Versace geisha styled mini-dress. She quickly changed out of that to introduce Adele into a long, high-necked purple gown.
She ended the night in Dior… She wore a pink top paired with a black-and-white tulip-shaped skirt and yellow cube-shaped hat. But then she topped off a total of three horrible outfit choices with another before really ending the night in a glitter black dress accented with vinyl that read “Katy Perry”, cheesy huh?
One enjoyable thing about Katy is that she doesn’t ever care of the opinions of others. She told reporters, “I am all right with being laughed at and laughed with and just laughing, so that was the inspiration of tonight: just to have a laugh.”
Jo Calderone who was Lady Gaga’s alter ego wore a Brooks Brother pants suit, little makeup and a short wig that sort of made her resemble a character from “The Fairly Oddparents.”
A bunch of us were wondering when Lady Gaga was going to turn back into a girl throughout the night but she didn’t. She even hit on Britney spears as she presented her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Oh, Britney…we loved you back in the late 90’s early 2000’s… but you looked like you needed some sleep and a new stylist. Britney wore a black sequin Moschino romper with sheer overlay detail, a low-slung belt, and platform gold and black peep-toe boots. This romper was unflattering and the patent leather boots threw it all off for me.
Demi Lovato made her appearance on the black carpet while advertising her new album in a Mandalay silver sequin plunging mini with matching Christian Louboutin pumps. Miley Cyrus soon followed in a floor length floral and animal print dress in blue and black by Roberto Cavalli.
Kreayshawn?! I’ll hold all negative comments to myself but she showed up wearing a sequined Disney themed dressed, red kicks and a rainbow manicure? Oh ok.
A good surprise of the night! Snooki !! She must be on my diet because she showed off her slimmed down body in a sexy and actually good looking dress, an Ama Savahi strapless mini.
Snooki’s cast mate, Deena didn’t fail to make us cringe. Was her recent “lesbihonest” scene on Jersey Shore the reason she wore this “coming out the closet” rainbow dress? Um, ok.
JoJo plans on making her comeback in this S&M styled Marco Marco bustier dress with killer black platforms. How do you feel about this look?
Kelly Rowland also pictured on the black carpet wore a multi-textured Falguni & Shane Peacock mini dress. Beauty at its finest.
Kim Kardashian instead of still being on a honeymoon with her new husband decided to hit her first post-wedding red carpet. She showed of “her” assets in a slinky metallic Kaufman Franco gown.
Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa remained the regular laid back couple that they are. Wiz showed off his tats in tank top and dirty denim, while Amber opted to show off her figure in a white jumper.
Chris Brown performed a mix of some old school Wu-Tang rap, Nirvana and his hit singles “Yeah 3X” and “Beautiful People.” Chris Brown gave no warning and flew over the stage, wowing the crowd.
Animal print was big among the guys as they sported all different kinds. Justin Beiber seems like he left Usher’s side and came dressed up as Yeezy as he sported a black blazer with a YSL pin, red denim jeans and a pair of cheetah Louboutin’s.
During the surprise performance of “Otis” Hov and Ye hit the stage in something so simple yet it still said, “Swag.”
Kanye sported denim on denim, an American flag hanging from his right back pocket and on his feet what appeared to be the upcoming Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneakers. The new anticipated colorway looks like a mix of his Louis Vuitton Jaspers and the Yeezy 1. The shoes back had the same backing as the Jaspers but of course the similar look of the Yeezy 1’s.
Dad-to-be, Hov kept it so Brooklyn in a white tee as he sported a New York snakeskin snapback, denim jeans and a pair of Timberland constructs.
Tyler the Creator, the new comer, who snagged two moon men clearly already fits in the crowd. He wore leopard underneath the bill of his hat and of course the tie-dye crewneck with the kitty graphic on the front.
Lil Wayne followed the men in animal print as he took the risk of wearing super tight gray scale leopard print skinnies. Eh… I think he’s losing it or lost it.
OKAY OKAY OKAY! Of course, I saved the best for last. Beyonce sported the best accessory of her own, her baby bump! In a flowy orange/red Lavin gown, then performing in a Dolce & Gabanna tux as she sung “Love on Top” then rubbed her belly for the world to see.
