Artist Jay West has released the first episode for his documentary Art Is Life". The documentary’s trailer was released via StuffFlyPeopleLike.Com to rave reviews. The first episode details Jay West working on his craft and beautifully describing how growing up in Harlem has influenced his art and who he is influenced by. Describing his artwork as “mythological” the first episode gives the audience a broader view of who Jay West is as an artist and what he feels his amazing art represents.
The “Art is Life” series is interview style‐documentary focusing on Jay West as he paints, travels his city and speaks on his art style. You will also see him animatedly talking to young artists at his former high school, the High School for Art & Design, for a career day program. Getting a glimpse at what a young artist’s life is like, West sees his documentary as giving the audience a look at a rare breed; a young, Black man from the inner‐city who has decided to use a paintbrush as his weapon of choice. “Art can definitely bring peace…my artwork can bring peace & positivity.” It is a rare sight, one that is captured raw‐ly on film for the outside world to see and fall in love with.
Jay West is a contemporary painter out of Harlem, NY who is quickly gaining recognition as one of the most promising young artists in New York. Most recently, Jay West’ art has been featured in the Mickey Factz video "For The Culture" ft. Marsha Ambrosius and on the NBRHD site as the featured art of the day. He has been featured in multiple galleries and has since branched out to designing accessories and t‐shirts.
