If youve been paying close attention to DWND since earlier this year, you should've noticed Virginia artist & personal friend of mine, B [dot] Jay whether it was from his singles, collabs, or his latest mixtape "Midnight Munchies!" . He has definitely been doing a lot to get where he needs to be to make his dreams a reality from his own music, producing for his friends as well as Mac Miller or on his clothing line Weirdoe [w|G-Rod & Seth] which has been featured on DWND a while ago.

So since thats whats going on now, I got a chance to ask a few questions of how he started out & whats coming next.

DWND: For people who may not know, tell us a bit about who you are. Who is B [dot] Jay?

- B [dot] Jay: I'm just a kid thats in love with music and anything artistic.

DWND: Where did your love for music come from?

- B [dot] Jay: I would say from my dad, he was big on hip-hop when i was younger. He would always have music blasting in the crib or in the car. And his ear for music was crazy. As i got i older i started using music as a outlet and thats when i fell in love with the craft.

DWND: Who are some artists that have influenced the sound of your music?

- B [dot] Jay: It would take days to name all the artists. I'm influenced by everything thats dope, any genre. Everyday I show my homies some new shit i've found.

DWND: So, what do you find yourself listening to mostly at the moment?

- B [dot] Jay: at the moment you can probably catch me listening to a tribe called quest, rah band, curren$y, odd future & theophilus london. i like diverse music, music that sounds new everytime i hear it.

DWND: You recently dropped your "MidnightMunchies!" mixtape, how was the feedback from it and how will you use that to benefit your career?

- B [dot] Jay: i received a lot of positive feedback from "Midnight Munchies!". except from myself. I, personally have mixed feelings about "Midnight Munchies!". At that point i found myself making a lot of the tracks to appeal to others or satisfy other people, which goes against the whole reason why i started making music. MM helped me grow a lot as an artist as well as a person. I had to look in the mirror and analyze myself and my music and now im back to how i used to be, back on that DDB shit.

DWND: When are you dropping another project?

- B [dot] Jay: i plan on dropping my album "SleepingInTheClouds" this summer. I'm really excited about it. I'm producing the whole project myself, everything is me. like i stated before MM was made to appeal to other people, but this project is the complete opposite, i made this for me. So im really not focusing on how other people will take it this time, i know that i love it first and if others appreciate it, that would be awesome but if not, i'll still be proud of myself.

Stay tuned to DWND for anything else B [dot] Jay or Weirdoe related .
